Build a Sentence

Miss 4 has weekly speech therapy sessions, and as part of the consolidation work we do between sessions, we have to work a lot on adding the words with focus sounds into sentences. She absolutely loves to make silly sentences and it’s really building her confidence at constructing interesting sentences. I made this little sentence building activity to encourage both their reading and sentence construction, as it’s useful to also talk about capital letters and full stops. I added in information about the word groups of each part of the sentence to. Of course I wouldn’t expect them to know these at just 4, but it is NEVER too early to introduce children to new vocabulary, so they are they so we can talk about the words groups nonetheless.

To make this I used some leftover packaging cardboard, acrylic paint pens to draw out the shapes and colour and @connetix_tiles which click together perfectly for the words. The words are written in a liquid chalk pen, which sets dry but then wipes right off with a damp cloth once we’re done!
